“Smart” ETF?

“I don’t care what Apple, Blackberry or Android needs, I just care that this company could make us extremely wealthy.”
Without the technology this company’s perfecting, Smartphones would be dead in the water.

Smart Phone Index… Not Such a Smart Move (TF)

* Tiny Tech Revelations (Shawn Ambrosino)
Contrary to popular belief, the future of technology isn’t based on making things faster…
It’s making them smaller.
Don’t get me wrong, faster is always a welcome addition, but when it comes to the things that matter, it comes down to size…
I can’t believe I’m about to say this but yes, size does matter.
For years, rumors have swirled about back alley deals the Pentagon is making with covert inventors with the knack to move today’s best technology and make it smaller…
Today, those rumors have been confirmed, as AeroVironment (AVAV), a leader in the surveillance field revealed their latest invention…
A robotic hummingbird that not only mimics the movements of the animal, but carries a camera in its belly to transmit video back to the source.
This is big.
Matt Keennon, senior project engineer for AeroVironment, confirmed the Pentagon’s involvement, even going so far as to say that, "We were almost laughing out of being scared because we had signed up to do this.
The Pentagon asked the company to develop a pocket-sized aircraft for surveillance and reconnaissance that mimicked nature.
They let he design up to Keennon and his team, telling them it could be anything...
And five years and $4 million later, the company has just revealed “the world's first hummingbird spy plane”.
And believe me when I tell you, this is only the beginning…
Perennial defense contractors, Lockheed Martin are also throwing their hats into the tiny tech ring, developing a fake maple leaf seed, complete with navigation equipment and imaging sensors.
Insects are next on the board…
Imagine a “spy plane” the size of a bee or common housefly, with the ability to hover, land and transmit from almost anywhere.
Amazing.
Even more amazing are the every day applications that this kind of technology can apply to the jobs of our first responders…
Firefighters can send these tiny drones into collapsed buildings…
Police could send one into a hostage situation, surveying the layout, therefore reducing the danger to the captives…
Forest Rangers could send a small fleet into the woods in search of lost hikers…
The possibilities are endless.
We’re at the beginning of a very interesting, and lucrative industry.
Editor’s Note: Yes, we are at the very beginning of a very interesting industry… the funny thing is, Tim has seen this coming for years. In fact, he’s researched the major players, and has finalized a special report on the company he feels could return you the most gains. This company has been kept under wraps, but their signed defense contracts practically guarantee this company will run. Get the name of this clandestine company here and get all of the details.

* Is This A Smart ETF?  (Tim Fields)
Not only have smartphones revolutionized the way we chat, check our email and surf the web, but they have become a staple in pretty much every household across the country.
Smart phones are quickly becoming what computers were back in the early 90’s and as a result, the companies behind the success of this technologic evolution have done quite well.
The question has always been – which company should we invest in?
Which of the companies has the potential to bring you the investor back the most amount of cash?  Is it the headset makers, the smartphone manufacturers, the network providers?
Well, the way it used to be was to pick the best company with the best fundamentals and the most potential.
Now, there’s an ETF that does it all for you.  The First Trust NASDAQ CEA Smartphone Index Fund (FONE).  The fund is designed to closely track the Nasdaq OMX CEA Smartphone Index. This index includes a good number of companies organized into three primary categories:
  • Handsets;
  • Software applications and hardware components;
  • And Network providers.
The investment breakdown is about 45% holdings to the first two and 10% to the last. Within each segment, the components are equally weighted.
There’s no question, this new ETF has a very diversified portfolio of everything “smart” related, but I do have my reservations…
I believe that it’s a bit too diversified, especially for our readers.  Also something worth mentioning is FONE has a .7% expense ratio…not exactly low.
I would stay away from this and leave it for the people who enjoy a slow paced trading environment with marginal at best gains.
Since inception, the fund has gone from $30.21 to its current price of $29.35.
